Terminal Cancer Inspires Nationwide Movement for Access to Healthy Foods
At the age of 21, Krista Anderson received the devastating news of cancer recurrence – a cruel twist of fate after having battled the disease once before at 19, resulting in the surgical removal of one of her kidneys. She experienced a brief period of relief, only to confront the harrowing reality of Stage 4 cancer two years later, with a prognosis of just three months left to live.
Enduring rigorous chemotherapy treatments and a subsequent major surgery that claimed two-thirds of her right lung, Krista found herself navigating through the darkest chapter of her life. Yet, amidst the despair, she harbored a profound realization that her tribulations held a deeper purpose beyond personal suffering.
Inspired by her journey towards recovery and fueled by a passion to make a meaningful impact, Krista resolved to address a glaring issue she encountered during her struggle – the scarcity of accessible, nutritious food options that were both affordable and convenient. She found herself surrounded by a sea of processed, sugary, and unhealthy choices that offered no support in her quest for wellness.
After Krista’s recovery, the vision for Healthy on the Go was born within her heart – a vision where wholesome food would grace every corner of America to help create a path to disease prevention. Selling nearly all her possessions to fund her dream, she embarked on a mission to turn this dream into reality, birthing Healthy On the Go snack stations tailored for placement in airports, convenience stores, hospitals, universities and cafeterias across the United States.
With meticulous care, Krista has curated a diverse product selection that caters to various dietary needs, all while championing reputable manufacturers and ensuring affordability. Each item featured in Krista’s Healthy On the Go stations undergoes a rigorous selection process to ensure genuine healthfulness, boasting transparency with easily recognizable ingredients like those found in one’s kitchen. The assortment also includes products that are certified organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, and vegan.

Since its inception in 2013, Healthy on the Go was nominated “National Catalyst for Change” for America’s health by Partnership for a Healthier America, a nonprofit spearheaded by former First Lady Michelle Obama, in pursuit of a shared goal – combatting obesity and accessibility to nutritious foods in America.
Reflecting on her journey, Krista acknowledges the profound blessing of overcoming stage 4 cancer, recognizing it as a testament to a higher purpose beyond individual healing – a divine mandate to foster the wellbeing of an entire nation. Yet, Krista envisions her Healthy On the Go stations as just the inaugural stride in her crusade to instill health and vitality within the American populace. Authoring her first book, “Claim Your Healing” Krista details the tools and methods she used to restore her body back to health aiming to empower others in their own journey toward wellness.
